Pugs

Pugs are adorable looking dogs that are very friendly and affectionate. The main purpose in having this kind of dog for a pet is for companionship. These are very social dogs and are excellent companions for children, who treat them well. These dogs enjoy a routine, so they do not adapt well to change.

Pugs will eat anything, so you will have to be very careful about what you feed this type of dog. Most of them have to be put on diets because they really love food. You also have to make sure you give this dog plenty of exercise.

They are mainly indoor pets and do not like extremely hot or cold temperatures. Because their eyes are very prominent on the face, they are prone to eye injuries. This is because most of the time, the pug’s face is the first thing that touches any surface. When you are grooming your dog, you should always wipe the eyes with a moist cotton ball. You also need to clean the wrinkles in the dog’s face and if you use cream, you have to be careful to make sure you wipe it all off.

One thing that Pug owners have to do is brush the dog’s coat on a regular basis to keep it healthy. The brushing helps the skin produce the natural oils the fur needs to stay shiny. Although, these dogs will resist getting their nails trimmed, this is also something you must do. Once you start doing it on a regular basis, it will become part of the dog’s routine and he/she will get used to it.

Although Pugs do not slobber and drool, they do snort and snore. Some do so much louder than others. If this is something that bothers you, you will have to get used to it, if you want to have a Pug as a pet.
